ULTRAVATION® PROGRESSIVEMEDIA™ FILTER PRODUCTS MEET CRITERIA FOR VIRAL FILTRATION PERFORMANCE ACCORDING TO RECENT STUDY
In a time where infectious disease and indoor air quality are at the forefront of our thoughts for both commercial and residential applications a lot of the focus has been on Ultraviolet products utilizing UVC bulbs for germicidal irradiation. While it is true this is an awesome way to kill viruses and improve indoor air quality, recently ASHRAE shared a technical feature, “The Study of Viral Filtration Performance of Residential HVAC Filters”. We had to ask could we really get quality viral filtration performance from one of our standard air cleaners by Ultravation®?
The study concluded, “high efficiency residential HVAC filters were effective at capturing airborne virus particles.”[i] A collection of MERV ratings were evaluated ranging from MERV 5 through MERV 14. What classified these filters as high efficiency? [ii] Filter Size, pleat spacing, electrostatic charge and filter media weight were all features that were required in the specimens of this study.
The tested MERV 13 filters yielded results ranging from 79-98% efficiency at a single pass.iii
Ultravation® ProgressiveMedia™ MERV 13 filters products feature:
– High efficiency with low air restriction
– UltraStrand™ fibers with electrostatic charge
– Thirty-two square feet of hypo-allergenic, multi-layered air filter
– MERV 11 or MERV 13 (recommended)
